For our next card, we’ll be looking at the Three of Cups.
Threes in Tarot represent relationships and growth. Cups represent emotion. In contrast to the Two of Cups, the Three of Cups doesn’t involve romantic relationships.
We can see in the card a trio of women, dancing around with their goblets held high in the sky. Clearly, this is a card celebrating friendship. It’s pretty obvious. Maybe Cups are just really obvious? We’ll check back on that later.
Depending on the context this card is drawn, the card can represent friendship, positive relationships with women, parties, or fertility. By all means, this card is very positive when it pops up.
When the Three of Cups is reversed, we can see the trio is still dancing, but with their cups thrust high in the sky. I personally feel that this card isn’t completely negative when reversed, but more of a warning card, such as beware of high times with fast friends, because before you know it, your cup is empty and your friends are gone.
Things to remember when the Three of Cups pops up:
- Threes represent relationships and growth
- Cups represent water, emotions, and in time frames, months.
- As we progress further through the cards, it will become easier and easier to interpret cards and interpret how cards interact with each other.
