Let’s compare the Three of Cups!
The Three of Cups traditionally is associated with celebrations.
When the Three of Cups shows up, it is usually a sign of prosperity and having a good time. Both cards show us a lovely group, dancing and singing. You can almost hear the music in the background! Both of these cards show a trio of people, raising their glasses and being in generally high spirits.
The Tarot of the Divine focuses on the story of the Apsara. Apsara are spirits in Hinduism that are, for lack of a better short definition, spirits that bring the party. Here is a brief, more formal definition, from the Britannica. I wish I had more information regarding these spirits, but there is a LOT to go through. Apsara are spread across a lot of Southasian culture and religion. They represent many different facets. Apsara seem to be most closely similar to the Greek Muses, beautiful feminine spirits that represent the arts and seduction. Please take note, these spirits are independent of Greek mythos and not related at all, I am purely making a connection to help explain their similarities. Apsara are also known as water nymphs, which is very fitting for the suit of water, Cups.
Between both cards, we’re seeing a party in full force, and you want to join in. I love the use of the color blue in both cards, where you can tell it’s night, but it’s the prime of night. I really like both cards equally. This card is such a good card to represent the community and prosperity that comes with good friends and good relationships in your life. If this card appears for you, may it guide you to good times with good people.
