Let’s compare the Queen of Wands!
Where the Page and Knight of Wands were cards showing the carelessness of youth, the Queen of Wands showcases the fire and power that comes from being an adult and knowing how, and what, to fight for. Both of these queens are powerful figures. In our Santa Muerte deck, this feels like a mother, who’s rules are not to be disobeyed. For the Tarot of the Divine, we see a powerful woman, in a hula skirt, and without knowing more yet, you can tell that she is not to be ignored when she speaks.
I have been waiting so patiently for this card, because I actually know what this mythos is for the Tarot of the Divine. Everyone, please welcome Pele, the Hawaiian goddess of volcanoes. Pele is amazing goddess, and is similar to those such as Ancient Greece, where she is allowed to be a very human goddess. She is known for her power, her anger, and her jealousy. She is, to say the least, an absolute powerhouse of a deity. I would highly recommend reading more into her, as she is such a wonderful character to hear about, as well as one of the last remaining cultural aspects of Hawai’i that has not been completely ethnically cleansed from them. Here is a very brief article regarding her, but please be aware; as a goddess, she is not to be trivialized or trifled with. She is known for her power and her anger for a good reason.
Both of these queens showcase the power that comes from being able to learn from the actions of your past and being confident in your own ability to step forward into your power.
This also starts us into the differences between the court cards; what’s the difference between the Page to Knight, the Knight to Queen, the Queen to King? Each card has it’s own markers and each card has it’s own values. Between the Queens and Kings, the biggest differences usually lie in way each card presents as more passive or more direct. I feel with Queens, they tend to be more direct and active in their messages and in their meanings. Whereas the Kings are more passive, and more subdued.
