I think the hardest part about reading Tarot on any given day is when you have the days where you just can’t get the words to work. You can look at the card and know what it’s supposed to mean, but you’re a little stuck on how it’s supposed to translate into the words we speak and write.
Today’s card is the Five of Swords.
Swords represent thoughts and mentality. Fives represent challenges. Has anyone else noticed that as we move through a Suit, every other card is basically something like ‘challenge’ or ‘conflict’ or ‘setbacks’? I think it’s a great reminder that on any journey there will be setbacks and challenges as you move closer and closer to your goal.
While we should always challenge our own mentalities, this card is calling out that we need to challenge others’. With America looming on the presidential election, we need to remember to stand against those who are prejudiced against justice, peace, and equality. We need to vote, we need to start these hard conversations with our friends and families, we need to work harder to preserve what future may be left for the human race. For many of us, this is the first step we can take to make a difference in the world and to be the type of people we want to see in the world.
Please remember to vote, even if you’re not American; voting is the best way you as a citizen can influence the changes you want to see in your country, your city, your community.
