Let’s compare the Eight of Wands!

These cards are both very dynamic and have a sense of action to them. Surprisingly, both depict a figure flying in the air, with the wands or staffs all around them. Both of these cards are parallel to the traditional Eight of Wands, where the wands are flying through the air.

This card also leads us into one of the first stories featured in the Tarot of the Divine where we have disputed origins. The Tarot of the Divine deck pulls from the story of The Rainbow Crow, which was said in the past to be a Lenape Native American story. In recent times, the tribe has denied that it came from them, and that it may have ties to the Cherokee Native American legends. However, recent studying of the myth shows that there is no clear origin and no clear ties to the past. Here is a brief article regarding the story and it’s mysterious origins.

With this information, as a brief aside, for those pursuing witchcraft, be wary of the information you pursue. The Tarot of the Divine did publish their deck with this card, showing it as a disputed myth. Which is fair if the research at the time of creating and making this deck was murky at best. To be aware that even with the entire world at our fingertips to learn from, sometimes information can still get muddled and confusing. Research is invaluable, especially to new witches; be aware that not every source is equal and that sometimes you will learn something, only to revise it a few years down the road. The Tarot of the Divine deck was published in 2020, and in the few short years since then, there has still been little information that can determine more for this myth. So while the myth is disputed on who it belongs to or where it came from, we can still find meaning in the story and lesson to be learned from stories with mysterious origins.

The story follows a fire-bringing myth, where the Rainbow Crow brings fire to his friends to survive a harsh winter. The Crow is stained black from the smoke of the fire and his voice is turned harsh from the smoke he inhales as he carries a stick with the flame.

Both cards represent the action that should be taken to achieve your goals. As in, the actual actions you should be taking to progress forward. This card shows the timing is ideal to step forward into the life you are working towards.
