Surprise Tarot Reading!

Well folks I just did a suppose reading for myself, the first in a very long time and oh boy. I completely understand those memes about how putting off shadow work comes back to bite you in the ass.

I pulled several cards as I asked my deck questions tonight and the answers honestly shocked me, but in the same way you get shocked when something bad happens because of something you could have easily prevented, like keeping a glass from falling from the edge of your counter.

I didn’t get any pictures in the moment so this post will be sadly pictureless. As a notice to anyone who is startled by the cards I describe, I’m using the Santa Muerte deck.

I started with asking what I needed to now at this moment.

I drew the 2 of Pentacles, 6 of Cups, and 5 of Cups.

The 2 of Pentacles represents the issues we are having with money; and that while we are better than where we’ve been, we are not comfortable yet. The 6 of Cups represents my current overwhelm with my emotions and internal monologue. And the 5 of Cups represents the depression I’ve been suffering from; the image on this card in particular is of a figure in a pond with water rising around them, almost to chest level as they pleakly stand. I remember this card clearly because all I could hear in my head was I’m drowning.

I then asked what I can do to fix it, being the situation itself?

I drew the 8 of Wands and the Knight of Cups. This particular 8 of Wands is very vibrant and features shafts of wood coming out the undergrowth around a skull that is seemingly yelling. I understood this combination to mean that I must work through with my internal conflict to become the champion of my emotions.

I then asked if I was on the right path, asking as a yes/no answer.

I drew the Star next.

While I understand the place the Star holds in a traditional journey, it is different in response to a yes/no question; as a yes/no you have to ask how you feel about the card and what it means to you.

I took the Star to mean yes, but an iffy yes, the kind where you’re not quite sure but anything can influence the decision.

I then asked if I take the next step I had been considering, will my path be right? (I know this one is almost too specific, but I wanted to see what I could pull?)

I received the 3 of Pentacles in response. This card shows a farmer watering three spouts with love and care.

I take it to mean that by taking the time to grow my garden first, then the next step will be prosperous.

I felt like this is one of the longest organic readings I’ve had in a long time and it was great. I guess sometimes when you stop and listen, you can actually learn things.

Have you ever had an experience like this? Let me know in the comments.

Witchcraft 101: Angel Numbers

Oh my dear witchlings, how I simply detest Angel Numbers.

Where do I start?

I feel that Angel numbers are simply a scam. Angel numbers are a construct for our digital modern world to find meaning in the meaningless. We fond these numbers written in clocks, on signs, in emails and messages. All man made constructs.

Maybe I feel that Angel numbers are a thing because I grew up in an area where the local taxi company’s number was just 7s, making it easier for drunk folk to get a ride home (before Uber existed, I’m not that old I promise). Seeing something like, I don’t think I can put my faith in Angel numbers. I can’t connect with Angel numbers.

But I’m still going go through what they mean so you have a good idea of what they can mean for you. Witchcraft is about finding what works in your practice. I know some witches swear by Angel numbers, making wishes on 11:11 and such. For me, my heart just doesn’t have connection to Angel Numbers.

111

One repeating is a sign of intuition. It’s a sign to keep doing what you’re doing as this is the right path.

222

2 repeating is a sign that you are exactly where you need to be. Focus on what you want and trust in yourself.

333

3 repeating is a sign of equilibrium. When this comes up, it is time to focus on body, mind, and soul, and to be sure each is being taken care of properly.

444

4 repeating is a sign that you are protected by your guides, and to take care in protecting yourself in your environment and your mind.

555

5 repeating is a sign of change. This number is commonly used in written manifestation to help bring about change.

666

6 repeating is a sign to stop and reevaluate. This number has been corrupted by Christianity as a sign of the devil, but in different contexts things can mean different things. This number, when observing angel numbers is harmless and is a number for self-evaluation and self-monitoring. However, this is one of those narratives that we will most likely not change in our lifetime, like the black cat issue.

777

7 repeating is a sign of strength. It is a sign of releasing fear and looking towards the future with hope.

888

8 repeating is a sign of balance and harmony. If you see this sign, you are connected well to yourself and to the universe.

999

9 repeating is a sign that your journey is coming to an end, and it is time to let go. When journeys end, we must be ready to leave what was brought on the journey and become ready to start the next.

You might disagree with me and think Angel numbers are amazing. And I’m not here to tell you they aren’t. I’m hear to say that I can’t connect with them, but I’m giving you the information to make your own decisions about whether this is something you want to include in your practice.

Maybe you agree with me that Angel numbers aren’t anything special. But let’s not go after others that want to use this form of practice. We’re better than that. We can say we don’t like them, but we shouldn’t discourage others from doing what is best for them.

It’s kind of like vegetables; some people love Brussel sprouts and some people hate them. But if you like them you shouldn’t force them on people who hate them and if you hate them you shouldn’t force that on someone else who likes them.

Note: this logic does not apply to something regarding basic human rights, such as gender, sexuality, access to medical care, or the pursuit of a long, safe, healthy, happy life.

Witchcraft 101: Honoring your story…

Hello my little witchings!

I know it’s been a while and I want to say two things.

For everyone who has still been visiting, thank you so much for your support. And for everyone that has been patiently waiting for me to come back, thank you as well.

The past few months have really highlighted how toxic my situation had become with my self talk, my work environment, and my goals. I took some time away to really think about what I’ve been wanting out life and I think I know now.

Honoring your story is the way you look at your own story and decide that you are still worth it despite all the trials and struggles you’ve faced. For several months now, I’ve been focusing on my story and working to honor the past I have. I’ve been, frankly, depressed about how my life has turned out and I’m not even 25 yet!

I visited an old friend this past April, and they told me exactly what I needed to hear; that I’ve been trying too hard to be responsible and I haven’t let myself live or have fun. And that I should focus on doing things for me.

So I took the time to look for a new job in the industry I want to work in and I started looking for a way out of retail. And I finally did it. I found a job at a veterinary clinic and I found a way out of working in retail. And my mental health has never been better.

I know my story is… boring and typical. I know my story hasn’t been written fully, neither the ending or the beginning has been laid out for you dear readers. But I know that the journey I’ve been on has taught me hard lessons I needed to learn.

Honoring your story is understanding that some days are going to be hard, and the version of you you wish you could be might never come true. But it also means that the hard days are meant to help you grow, the missed opportunities and missed connections are for a reason, and the you you want to be is everchanging and growing as you change and grow.

Honoring your story is forgiving yourself, which is still something I am actively working on. Honoring your story is being your first line of support in heartache and victory. Honoring your story is drawing connections to your past to forge your future.

I won’t lie to you. The last year has been the hardest I have lived through and not just because of Covid. In two weeks I’ll turn 24. Last year, I spent my birthday sitting on my couch getting drunk and mourning the version of me I thought I should’ve been if everything had been different. I still mourn that version of me. I know now that this version of me is the version I need to be. But it’s hard to reconcile your dreams with the reality of your situation sometimes. But that’s why we need to honor our stories and honor each other’s stories as well.

If you want to tell your story and get it out, please feel free to do so in the comments. Or send me a message via my contact page or on Instagram. I know telling my story to others has helped me gain insight to my own journey and if you have no one you can tell, tell me; I won’t post anything sent in confidence.

Daily Tarot Draw: February 11, 2021

Today we are looking at the moon in Aquarius, and the new moon peaks tonight! For all of you with plans tonight, don’t forget and don’t forget to get your moon water all ready.

Today is the Ten of Wands. I think this card is very fitting as we move into the peak of the new moon tonight. Tens are the completion of the cycle and Wands represent actions. We are at the end of our cycle of previous actions.

Today, let’s let go of the actions that no longer serve us. Something I know I have been negligent of is showing gratitude in all things. I think today is a good day for me to let go of not being mindful and grateful for all that has brought me to this point in life.

Maybe today is a good day to let go of a bad habit, or to let go of even a neutral habit. Maybe we have a neutral habit like drinking just enough water to get by, but not be fully hydrated, or using our phones in bed; something not entirely detrimental but not serving us in any way. Let’s let go of some habits and start building new ones.

Daily Tarot Draw: February 10, 2021

Good morning, everyone! Today the moon stays in Aquarius, and today is a good day for various yard work ,according to my handy Farmer’s Almanac. Let’s see what else today holds for us.

Today is the Eight of Pentacles. We know that Pentacles represent the material and wealth. Eights represent change and attainment.

Today, we are changing the way we see or get material wealth. Maybe this means a new job opportunity, a lose bill on the ground, a new path towards financial freedom. We should be open to whatever comes our way. Perhaps an inheritance, your tax return, a refund on a bill you paid where you were accidentally overcharged. We should be open to new opportunities to give ourselves financial freedom and be open to creating more paths of financial attainment. Maybe this means a side-gig doing something only you can do, an opportunity for overtime, or even just a raise.

Check out the giveaway page to sign up for the daily tarot giveaway! It won’t be long until we finish this deck. If everything goes to plan, there maybe only be time until the end of March to sign up! Don’t hesitate! It’s free and its a cool little package curated by me!

Daily Tarot Draw: February 9, 2021

With the Daily draw, should I start including stuff like witchy tips of the day or what kind of spellwork is good for that day? Or maybe a astrology update? Let me know in the comments! Or let me know if you have any ideas or suggestions!

Today’s card is the Hierophant. The Hierophant is a finicky card; almost every other Major Arcana card is named with words we know innately, or have knowledge of from just general use, such as Judgement (we know what judgement means as a word, right?) So what does ‘hierophant’ mean? Knowing that a hierophant was a priest in Ancient Greece. Knowing this alone, we can now make our intentions known of the Hierophant.

When he shows up, we should be mindful of guidance and welcome the guidance that comes from other sources. The Hierophant is the bridge between the known and the unknown. For some of us, this means he can bridge us to our spirit guides, if we follow that school. For others of us, that may mean that he can guide us through the mysteries that surround us, or make us more open to the mysterious ‘signs’ the universe sends us. He is the interpreter of the unknown and is here to give us the guidance from the unknown.

Today, we should welcome any signs that come our way. Maybe this is a detour sign through a part of town you’ve never been in, or maybe this is a sign from ourselves to change our lives in some way. We should trust our intuition and our guides to give us the answers we’ve been looking for, or even the answers we didn’t know we were looking for.

Daily Tarot Draw: February 6th, 2021

I’ve missed you all so much! The last few months have absolutely killed me and I finally have control of my sleep schedule now! I’m so excited to be getting more than a few hours of sleep a day and having a more consistent work schedule. For now.

We still haven’t made it through our deck, but thank you for sticking around in spite of my life’s ups and downs. Hopefully as the next few months play out, we’ll get through this deck and then hopefully the next deck too! (This is honestly just an excuse to keep buying a bunch of decks)

Today’s card is the Ten of Swords. This is a great card for us today; it’s the end of of the cycle of thoughts. We’ve hit the calendar new year, we’ve hit witchy new year, it’s time for us to really begin a new train of thought.

Maybe this means learning how to stop negative self talk, maybe this means learning how to stop negative habits, or maybe even just stopping negative practices in your life. Putting aside how last year was, and how this year has started, it’s okay to start your own new chapter in your book.

Get the closure you need to stop doubting yourself, to stop talking down to yourself. I myself have had a lot of trouble the last year about negative self-talk. I know some of my negative self-talk has come from a place where I feel inadequate and like I’m not living up to my true potential. But I think this is a good time of year to stop talking to myself like that and remember that, last year was not a good measure of progress for anyone considering that last year was plagued by injustice and, well, actual plague.

Let’s forgive ourselves for the thoughts we’ve had and focus on making new ones as the year is fresh and we have a lot of time to make new mistakes and learn new lessons.

Daily Tarot Draw: December 23, 2020

I’m not sure how you have all felt this week, but with a much needed break from life right around the corner, I’m feeling a little perkier than usual. That, or my morning brew is kicking in and giving me the spring in me step I need.

Today’s card is The Emperor. The Emperor is one of the first cards in the Major Arcana, after The Fool, The Magician, The High Priestess, and The Empress.

The Emperor typically represents the father figure in one’s life. While a common signifier card, The Emperor can also represent things in life like security and masculine energy. The Emperor to me represents the masculine energy that occurs naturally in life; while we may represent in one fashion or another how we would like the world to perceive us, we all have certain amounts of masculine and feminine energy. We are all born from the feminine and we are all asked to take on masculine traits to shoulder the weight of this world.

I think today we should take a look deep into what parts our ourselves we have been neglecting, that we have disregarded because of it’s masculine nature. Perhaps we have spent too much time looking in the mirror and critiquing how our bodies look, but we should remember that our bodies are built to be strong and to carry us through this life. Or perhaps we have neglected parts of our personalities, such as anger, aggression, passion, or ambition, because we believe it is not okay to act in such ways. But we need to embrace all aspects of ourselves to live our lives in a healthy and full capacity.

Let’s work on having balance within ourselves today and appreciating the parts that normally we hate. If positivity is unattainable, remember that all people are a mixture of both masculine and feminine and we need to embrace these traits fully.

We’re getting closer and closer to finishing this deck and we’re almost half way through! Sign up for one of the giveaways today before they end! Win a mystery Tarot deck, a great way to start your own journey in reading Tarot or a great addition to your collection; if anything a new deck is a great form of art to have and appreciate.

Daily Tarot Draw: December 22, 2020

It’s been a whirlwind month! After Halloween, it seems like life just got out of control! I’ve recently been promoted at my day job to an overnight manager and have been juggling working an entirely new shift and trying to get my sleep schedule under control. As much as I wished to keep reading Tarot during this entire period of transition, I’m glad I was able to take a small break to get my health and life on the right track.

Today’s card is the Nine of Cups. Nines represent the the end of the cycle, the completion of the lesson, the fulfillment of your journey. Cups are the representative of emotions and the heart.

Today’s message is that we are near the completion of a lesson for our emotions and our heart. We have been on a long journey this alone and we need to be kind to ourselves. We all have loved and lost and learned this year as we have watched the world try to turn while we have done our best to survive the arguably toughest year in a long time.

I know a lot of astrology lately has also been pointing towards the completion of many lessons and the opening of new doors. I think with the Solstice, the end of the year, Yule, the astrological Great Conjunction (if you’re one of those that enjoy the pursuit of astrology and it’s many deep and interesting meanings), we have had a whirlwind week and it is opening many doors for us to love ourselves and the people in our lives.

Let’s take the time today to love a little harder, a little longer, a little sweeter, especially to ourselves since we can all seem to neglect ourselves from time to time in our pursuit of living and loving those we know. Let’s take the steps to forgive ourselves for our regrets and remember that we’ve only gotten to this point in our lives by doing what we could to keep making it through each day.

Share something you love about yourself in the comments and let’s all share the love to each other.

Daily Tarot Draw: Nov. 4, 2020

I am on the edge of my seat for the results of the election and this anxiety is killing me! I just want to know what the future holds.

Today’s card, more fitting than yesterday’s card, is the One of Wands.

This is the start of a new cycle of actions. If anything, this is a good card, showing that change is coming. Maybe it’s personal change, developing a new habit or starting a new hobby.

Not to use Tarot for unintended purposes, but I feel this card is a good indicator for the future; while Tarot is for guidance only, I feel that we can be hopeful about the future, even knowing that we are on the edge of a precipice.

I know we are all waiting with bated breath, and I am ready for what the future holds. We can do anything if we stand together and fight for a better future. While at this moment, there is still a chance for the future to go either way, we can still make the future we want to see; one where we can appreciate the environment and help our communities and live happy, full lives without fear of scarcity or poverty.

Witchcraft 101: What is Grounding

In these tough times, the hardest thing to do is keep your senses and your mind clear enough to actually make a difference in the world.

Between the world recovering from a pandemic to the current the current political and racial tensions plaguing American, anyone who feels emotions heavily is feeling drained. You don’t need to by an empath to even feel drained from the constant hits this year keeps bringing.

The easiest thing you can do as a witch during these trying times is to ground yourself and ground yourself often.

Grounding is the process of connecting yourself to the earth. Grounding is what you do to help get your emotions and thoughts in order, especially before going into figurative battle against the Karens at your workplace or the injustice in the world. I think of grounding as the literal reminder to come back down to earth and be in your body instead of being stuck in your head; while many problems need to be thought about to come up with a solution, overthinking can plague us with fatigue, overwhelm, directionlessness, unnecessary anxiety, and undue stress. (Take it from me, as someone who is a chronic overthinker)

Grounding can be a part of meditation and is useful for centering yourself and knowing how you want to proceed through a task or obstacle.

You can ground during daily meditation sessions or whenver you feel overwhelmed with everything.

The easiest way to ground is to literally just find some ground and take a few minutes to breath. Many people have access to gardens or parks of some kind; grounding should become a part of your rituals and practices because it can help you regain focus on your thoughts and help you ground your energy back to you.

Why should you ground? Why is grounding so important?

Grounding is the first step before any spellwork; you should always be aware of your emotional state before starting spellwork or any magic working. If you focus on the wrong emotion during a spell, it won’t work or it won’t work as intended. Grounding is also a good way to decompress after a stressful day or stressful situation by helping you focus.

Many ground by just sitting or touching earth of some kind. Maybe you can do this during a meditation session, during a daily gardening session, or during something like a yoga routine every day. You can ground anytime of day, day or night, sunlight or moonlight, whatever temperature (as long as you’re being safe! Be wary of temperature extremes!)

Grounding is something that takes a bit of practice, like meditation; while an easy and cheap thing to pick up as a new witch, it does take some practice to understand how your energy feels before and after. I like to repeat mantras to myself while grounding; like in meditation, it can help a busy mind settle down and focus on one topic. Grounding is also a great way to help with bringing home work; by taking the time to stop, reflect, and breath, you reduce the stress life is causing you in aspects like work, family, and general survival (everyone hates seeing their bills and the stess of paying them while making sure you have enough to eat).

You can ground in many ways and there’s so many ideas about how to ground out there. Don’t be afraid to ask how others do it and see what works for you; that’s the whole point of witchcraft! We can help each other by providing new ideas and new perspectives while still being able to make the rules for ourselves about how we want to practice our individual beliefs. And don’t worry if you’re in an environment where earth might be hard to come by, like a bug city apartment with concrete and steel for miles around. You can use the dirt in your potted plants, the dirt under your nails, or just go fill up a jar with dirt!

Daily Tarot Draw: Nov. 3, 2020

My little gremlin heart is so excited for today’s card in that dark kind of way. With everything happening for the election today, we are standing at a massive crossroads and we need to focus our energies on making sure that we are doing the best we can to keep ourselves safe, our loved ones safe, and that we’ve done our part as adults to try to change this country. No matter the results, this is a turning point and the next FOUR years are going to bring change into our lives.

And I didn’t even need a Tarot card for that!

But today’s card is Death! Now, the experienced reader (or at least those who know better than to trust the face value of the card), know this card does not inherently represent death.

The Death card is the 14th card in the Major Arcana cycle. While the name may be a little deceiving, Death is like the The Devil; they may seem scary at first but they represent parts of the human life that we need to have. Death represents major changes. Death can also represent figurative death, like the death of a cycle, the death of an idea, the death of a habit that didn’t serve you. I love the illustration of this particular deck for death because it is so… revered. Death is depicted as a mother, praying over her crib, instead of the Rider-Waite deck which depicts Death atop his horse clad in armor. This Death is gentle, but ever-present, common, but beautiful. Death should be respected for what it is in all of our lives; a change in you by changing those you can have around you. Death is so common, yet so feared, even though it is so necessary for the energy of the world to flow properly (from a purely scientific view, death is one of the things we need in nature for the environment to thrive; go look up the nitrogen cycle).

Death popping up today of all days isn’t a coincidence. There is so much changing and stirring today and we need to be ready for the changes. Whatever happens, today is the turning point and we have the power to change the future to the way we want it to be. We have the power to call our representatives and demand action, we have the power to call our local governments and demand action, we have the power to help our communities by being there for the less fortunate, being there for those who need a shoulder and for those who just need a friend. We have the power to reduce our own impacts on the environment, we have the power to demand companies change or we will quit buying. We hold all the power and now is the time to use it to change the world.

I’m sure you can see why I was so excited to have pulled this card today of all days.

Spend today enjoying the sun, soaking up the last little bit before it gets to cold to be outside all the time (or for my Southern Hemisphere residents, until summer kicks into high gear). We sit on the cusp, but we can’t make the world spin faster so enjoy a moment of peace before we meet in the trenches to fight for a better world. But tomorrow. Today is for us.

Daily Tarot Draw: Nov. 2, 2020

I think the hardest part about reading Tarot on any given day is when you have the days where you just can’t get the words to work. You can look at the card and know what it’s supposed to mean, but you’re a little stuck on how it’s supposed to translate into the words we speak and write.

Today’s card is the Five of Swords.

Swords represent thoughts and mentality. Fives represent challenges. Has anyone else noticed that as we move through a Suit, every other card is basically something like ‘challenge’ or ‘conflict’ or ‘setbacks’? I think it’s a great reminder that on any journey there will be setbacks and challenges as you move closer and closer to your goal.

While we should always challenge our own mentalities, this card is calling out that we need to challenge others’. With America looming on the presidential election, we need to remember to stand against those who are prejudiced against justice, peace, and equality. We need to vote, we need to start these hard conversations with our friends and families, we need to work harder to preserve what future may be left for the human race. For many of us, this is the first step we can take to make a difference in the world and to be the type of people we want to see in the world.

Please remember to vote, even if you’re not American; voting is the best way you as a citizen can influence the changes you want to see in your country, your city, your community.

Daily Tarot Draw: Nov. 1, 2020

Is anyone else feeling full moon hungover? I didnt even get a chance to make moon water last night! But oh well, there will always be another chance. At least I was able to manifest last night, so the next spooky Halloween blue moon will be even better.

Today is the Three of Pentacles.

Pentacles represent the material world and wealth. Threes represent initial growth and progress.

The Three of Pentacles can represent the growth you’ve had in your wealth and the progress you’ve made towards financial wealth or financial freedom.

While you may be at a point where you’ve noticed a change, remember that there is still much to come. Threes are a long way from the end of the cycle so this is a sign to keep going even though you’ve noticed progress. Keep your nose to the grindstone and keep working hard to achieve your goals.

Daily Tarot Draw: oct. 29, 2020

Everything has been so crazy and honestly, I know I’ve lost focus! I lost focus on what I wanted to do, why I’m doing anything, what I’m trying to accomplish. That’s also why I should focus back on reading Tarot more; Tarot is a great way to keep yourself focused and to get insight onto what you’re focusing on. By taking a few minutes every day to center yourself and find your focus for the day, you can help keep yourself on track. I guess that’s why they say that Tarot should be a daily habit.

Habits are hard to build though, so as long as we make progress, that’s all that counts.

Today’s card is the Fool.

The Fool is the first card of the Major Arcana, and serves as the starting point of the cycle. The Fool symbolizes the way we are all beginners or we started as beginners in some aspect of our lives. The Fool is a headstrong, hopeful figure, keen on getting better.

The Fool showing up today is a great indicator that you are either starting a new journey, or that it is time to start a new journey. Even though it is the middle of the week, there’s never a wrong time to start a new chapter in your life. Whether this means putting yourself out there and looking for a new job, spending time on getting back to school, or just generally starting a new project to make your life better.

While now will be a great time to start a new venture, just remember that the Fool only represents the beginning of the process, and is not the indication that you will succeed. Every journey will have twists and turns and will be different than anyone else’s journey. You may succeed or you may fail, but this is a journey you should still try, to test your limits, your strengths, your passions.

I’m so excited for tomorrow I can barely contain myself! Some of my friends even want me to read Tarot for them and I honestly couldn’t have hoped for a better witchy coming out than what I got! I love my friends so much!

But we’re not here about tomorrow, we’re here about today! So let’s get into it.

Today’s card is the Seven of Cups.

Sevens are understanding and faith. Cups are emotions. At first glance, this card makes me want to say ‘Choices, choices galore!’ but something we should all work on is finding the calmest reaction sometimes. We jump headlong into most things and say the first thing we can decide on, but part of growing your intuition is trusting it and letting it speak instead of your heart or mind.

And my intuition is telling me this card is about honoring your past. To me, this chest of cups reminds me of the fancy china cabinet my grandmother has, where she has her nice wedding dishes, her mother’s nice dishes, some random centerpieces collected through the years from aunts and friends and gag gifts. But these cups are dredging up those faint memories of my grandmother asking us to get the nice dishes out for Christmas dinner, and on the days we would polish the silver for her arthritic hands and she would recount stories of her youth and her mother and her aunts.

Now, these memories are wonderful and nostalgic and fill you with that feeling of knowing who you are and where you’ve come from, even if I groaned internally through them as a child.

The veil is the thinnest right now, as we head into those festivals that honor the dead, like Halloween and Dia de Los Muertos. So honor your past and remember that even if it was hard and bad and you wouldn’t wish it upon anyone else, it is what has brought you here today, where you can learn from those lessons and become something besides the product of your environment. Honor those who came before you and fought to be here, honor those who gave you love, and honor those that came before you.

Make an altar space today, or create an ancestor altar space where you can give offerings to your ancestors that have brought you to this point. Or take the time to just say thanks to those who have given you the support you needed, like your friends, your family, your mentors and teachers.

We’re getting through this deck and hopefully, baring the inevitable repeat cards we’ll see near the end, we’ll get to see the end before the new years? There’s only around 50 or cards left we haven’t seen so it should go fairly quick!

Daily Tarot Draw: Oct. 23, 2020

This month is just flying by. I swear it seems like just yesterday was the start of the month and now we’re on the cusp of Halloween and the blue moon! And I have a Halloween party on Sunday to finish preparing for!

But let’s try to get back into the groove of Tarot and looking at this absolutely lovely cards!

Today is the Five of Wands. Wands are one of those suits we haven’t seen a whole lot of so it’s nice that it’s finally popping back up!

Fives are change or conflict. Wands represent actions.

While the literal translation might be that there will be change in actions, or a conflict, I think the imagery is more telling. We watch a figure lighting matches, but he’s running out in his matchbox. it kind of has the vibe of him almost gleefully wasting his chances. By striking a match that has no purpose, it takes away the chance for the match to be used for what it’s intended. It feels like a foreboding card, warning you against wasting chances that you think will be there in the future.

Maybe that’s just me being a little cynical, but I think we should be wary today of the chances we take thinking that we’ll be able to restart. While you are always able to restart your life at any time, some chances only come around once, like finding your life partner, nailing your dream job, or stumbling across a chance to make new family or friends. While you can always take a chance on another car, another job, another class, another meal, somethings you should take care in the fact that they only come around once and you should cherish those chances, whether taken or lost for the opportunity it gave you.

We’ve pulled a lot of cards now, but we’re no where near the middle of the deck! Luckily that means we have a lot of time left to learn something together from this deck.

Daily Tarot Draw: Oct. 19, 2020

The last week has been oh so busy with me prepping for a costume party which I’m hosting, neglecting school work to try to clean up my backyard, and just general running myself into the ground with school and work. I hadn’t even realized that a week had passed between this post and well, the last post! I guess the old phrase should be rewritten as ‘time flies when you’re busy out the ass with countless tasks and an unbearable work load’.

On to the card!

Today’s card is the Wheel of Fortune. I’m seriously considering that this deck is literally just Major Arcana cards and Swords at this point. At least it keeps it interesting and we haven’t had a repeat card. This little break in posting has also given me the time to look at decks and assess my budget for the giveaways so I can get you all something amazing!

The Wheel of Fortune is the 11th card in the Major Arcana. It is the middle of the cycle of the Major Arcana suit. Many see this card as a card of fortune and luck. I actually see this card as a ‘the world keeps on turning’ card.

Now, the vibes I get from this particular card, and it may just be from this deck, but I feel that this is a card to say you’re in the middle of it all now and it’s going to keep coming. And that’s not a bad thing but it’s not a good thing; it’s very much neutral. I’m not sure how many of you have heard of existentialism, but I get the vibe from this card that it is very much existential; you are here, you exist, and your journey is not done yet.

Knowing that this is the tail end of what can be described as our worst year of existing yet, and personally, I’m drowning in school work and house work and money work and haven’t even had time for spell work! But I suppose that’s how life works from time to time. We just have to keep working and rolling through it until we can get to an oasis or meadow where we can rest appropriately and fully, and regain our balance and heading.

So far we’ve pulled all of these cards:

It has been a whirlwind of activity at my house the last few days; we’ve decided sort of last minute to have a Halloween/fall/pumpkin carving party at the end of the month and we are hustling to get everything just right! I’m talking lights, I talking snacks galore, I’m talking just the right ambiance of spooky but cozy, I’m talking pumpkin guts, I’m talking costume mandatory or there’s a spooky punishment. I’m so excited and it’s the first actual party I’ll be throwing as an adult at my adult house with my adult friends!

But onto today’s card!

Today is the Nine of Wands. This is seriously only the second Wands card we’ve pulled, which is because the deck apparently has like 50 pentacle cards; I swear, it’s like every other day is a Pentacle card and we haven’t had any repeats yet.

Wands represent actions. Nines are fulfillment. Knowing that Nines come at the end of the suit, we can assume that Nines are there to remind us that we’ve come a long ways and should be proud of our journeys.

For today’s card, I’m actually getting a call-to-arms kind of vibe. Knowing that my own yard is in need of some heavy care, I actually think it’s hilarious that this card, showing a woman reaping some crops or trees with her scythe. So apparently the action I’m being called to today is yard work!

Another way to read this card for all of you that have other things more pressing in life that some overdue yard work, is to reap what you have sown to this point. It is the harvest season after all! Maybe this means finishing harvesting your garden which you literally sowed earlier this year. Or maybe it means you should take the actions to get the reward for having worked so hard. Maybe that means pulling a little out of your savings because you’ve been smart and getting yourself a festive latte(you know the one), or taking the time to sit back and appreciate all the hard work you’ve put into your schoolwork by celebrating all you’ve learned this year.

Sometimes reaping and harvesting are hard work as well, but the end result, of having the supplies you need, the knowledge you gained, the progress you’ve made, is worth it all in the end. Remember to be proud of the work you put in.

Here are all the cards we’ve pulled, including the measly two Wands we’ve pulled. I mean, we’ve pulled more Major Arcana cards than we have Wands!

Daily Tarot Draw: OCt. 10, 2020

I know it seems like I never post and that’s because sometimes I just don’t have the time! While I may be able to carve a good 10-15 minutes out of my mornings to draw a card, doesn’t mean I have the resulting 30 or so minutes after that to write a whole post about it! (And if I hear the advice of get up earlier one more time I’m shoving a broomstick in a place most people do not want it). But that’s life sometimes! We can strive to be perfect all we want, but all we will be at the end of the day is the best we could’ve been for that day.

Now onto our card of the day!

We are just getting hit left and right with these Major Arcana cards!

The Lovers are one of the easiest Major Arcana cards to read at first glance, along with Strength and The Tower. Unlike some cards with much deeper meanings (looking at you, Death, The Devil, and literally anything else Major Arcana), just by looking at the card you know it represents a couple.

The Lovers represent, well, love, companionship, as well as choices. Within Tarot, many of the cards depicting anything in two, such as all of the Twos, represent choices of some kind. Where the minor arcana can be used to divine what kind of choices you may have to make, like finances, actions, or just a decision in general, The Lovers are above that; the choice The Lovers represent may be very much a Robert Frost type of choice; two paths diverge and you must take one, but you can only take the one. (And if you actually read deep into that particular poem, you will understand that both paths are equal in result, but different)

But today, I’m reading this as love and relationships. I know this past week I’ve been neglectful of my relationships with my family and friends and I should take the time today to rekindle and reconnect. I know I’ve also been particularly difficult to deal with on my live-in mechanic/significant other, so I’m going to go out of my way today to make his favorite dinner since I haven’t been a very good housemate/significant other lately.

Take some time today and call your mom, hug your love a little tighter, play with your kids (furry or human) a little longer. I forget too often that a lot of people care about me and I forget to show them love back because I’m still uncomfortable sharing emotion freely. So do just the little things today to show you know they love you and you love them back.
